fashion spring 2008

Ok so i browsed through all the runway shows the other day and I have to tell you the truth, I was extremely disappointed! I mean I didn't think that was even possible for me to be disappointed while looking a fashion, but I was! There was barely anything that I liked, it all seemed very 80's to me, but not in a good way :( I mean last year I was in love with chole I mean IN LOVE!!! But this year nothing! I mean ug how could she do this to me! But of course there were a few exceptions and here are the pieces that actually impressed me:

I loved these ruffly little frocks from D&G! The mixing of patterns is so cute and fresh! Very girly and fun but still a little rock and roll:

These dresses from missoni are amazing! I love the gold and all the details!

These dresses from pucci are so 60's! I love that! so is this jacket from versace! gimme!!

BUT...they all still are not as good as chloe's spring 2007 line!! Maybe it is just because I am a vintage freak and should have been alive in the 60's, but I want all of these!!!!

i'm in love!!

Ok so for the past year I have been completely adoring the huge platform shoes that have been popping up in fashion (unfortunately most of them are way too expensive for me to buy and the knock off companies just haven't come around yet damn!) anyway when i saw these shoes on mary-kate olsen i completely fell in love! I mean they are amazing and yes I would like to marry them :)

vintage furniture sale! check it out

Ebay obsessed!!

Ok I think i've been a little too bored at my day job lately...
these are all the things i've bought on ebay this week! ha ha

this may look dumb, but im going to paint it some great color like turquoise or lime green and use it to hang necklaces on! and it was only a dollar! score!

I always wanted a fake christmas tree like this (very eco friendly!) I almost bought the one at urban outfitters, but that one was 60 bucks! and this one was only 9.99! score!

and of course i had to get adorable bird ornaments to go on my tree!

I'm going to get this refinished in a shiny black lacquer! and it was only 1 cent!!
major score!!

I just thought this was cute

and this too

and im not even going to tell you what im going to do with these! youll just have to wait and find out!!

kitchen design competition

Ok so sadly today I found out that I did not win the Electrolux Live-In kitchen design contest. So Ok the price was 75,000 dollars so I figured there would be a million entries and I probably wouldn't win, but a girl can dream can't she! Anyways I thought I would share with you my kitchen design entry! I named my design "The Palm Springs Kitchen" and I wanted it to be very retro 60's looking but with a modern twist! Oh yes and that is a spa in the middle! Ha Ha

new series!

Ok so I am starting a new series of paintings and I am really excited about my new concept! With my previous work I would just focus more on painting the figure (usually pictures of my friends). I was trying to capture the esesnce of my generation, so I would paint them in bright colors and in bar scence. But my in my new series I am combining my love of interior design and the figure! I am going to paint each one of my closest friends an an interior fabricated by me to reflect there personality! I've been thinking about this for months but I finally started!

My first painting is of my roomate Sara. Ok so I have only worked on it for a few days but here is how it is coming along, you get the general idea.

This is the orginal photo I took of her

and this is the picture I photoshoped for my reference

Ill update you with my progress as I go!

Very 1st post!!

Ok everyone, here goes! This is my very first post! I am eager and excited to jump into the blogging community and share all my thoughts and ideas with you all!

So i wanted to first start out with telling you a little about myself:

my name is ariane bartosh and I am an interior designer and an artist. I currently have an etsy store called Duchess Vintage where I sell vintage clothing and a occasionally some of my paintings! I have been selling on ebay for the last two years but I just switched to etsy this week! Hopefully it will be easier to sell on with my busy schedule!

I work at an architecture firm in los angeles called the jerde partnership, where I do hospitality and retail design. But I will hopefully soon start my own interior design firm called filthy duchess. I also am going to start my own website in a couple of months were i will be selling vintage houseware and refurbished vintage furniture! But thats all still in the works ;)
